Psychology is a popular subject that captures and engages the mind's of those students who are interested in society and the human race - why do we act and react as we do? Is there an explanation for all behaviour?
WYSISWYG - is that true (link to visual illusion web site)
Department Aims
The department aims to deliver knowledge, encouraging students to recognise their own learning style whilst endeavouring to help them access other means in order to increase the capacity for learning and recall.
The subject is taught in a number of ways; of course text books and in the class room but often using practical activities to illustrate the theory with opportunities to take the learning out of the classroom or to listen to visiting experts who may come to run a work shop.
Practical sessions include cooking - can diet affect behaviour? A topical issue as behaviour, stress, depression, mental illness and aggression dominates news coverage.
Try out the recipe developed by our A level students.

One of the topics within developmental psychology looks at how attachment develops within infancy so visits from staff with young babies are a feature - thanks to Ben Hay and Kia Darvill last year!
