Psychology News Update

Lower Sixth

In the summer term L6 students visited Monkey World in Dorset to observe animal behaviour, specifically linking to the topic of ‘Attachment’ and how behaviour in later life is shaped by experiences in infancy. All the monkeys have come to Monkey World because of the necessity to be re-homed, having been taken from their natural habitats for a number of reasons.

This term the Psychology Department plans to adopt one of the primates so that we can closely follow the progress of behaviour patterns and how they change, develop and adapt to their new lifestyle.

Upper Sixth

A2 students are currently studying Pro and anti-social behaviour; later this term a visit to Bath is planned so that students have a chance to observe by-stander behaviour with a view to assessing whether theories from the textbook really do hold true for how we behave in 21st Century Britain.
