The Pre-Prep department welcomes children between the ages of 4 and 7, after which time they transfer to the Prep Department.
Within the department we aim to make school an exciting and stimulating experience for our children. We believe that children learn best from first-hand experiences and we encourage them to develop socially and emotionally as well as academically. We use the Early Learning Goals and National Curriculum as a basic framework for our teaching but have the freedom to develop children’s learning by offering them a wide and varied curriculum which is delivered through a topic-based approach.
In order to extend their classroom learning, children are taken on outings and enjoy many extra-curricular activities including Easter egg hunts, teddy bears’ picnics and nature walks in the extensive school grounds.
The facilities available to our children include their own secure playground with trim trail and play equipment, use of the school playing fields, weekly sessions in the ICT suite, a range of exciting soft play equipment and use of the school swimming pool during the summer term. They also benefit from specialist teaching in Music, Art and (from Year 1) ICT and French.
We operate an ‘open door’ policy in the department and parents are always welcome in school to see and admire their children’s work. Staff are also available to meet and talk informally with parents. We particularly appreciate parental support for our regular school events such as the Nativity play, The Easter bonnet parade, Sports day and parents’ evenings and open days. We are also delighted for parents to join us on our visits to places of interest.
If you wish to find out more about the Pre-Prep department, why not come for a visit? You will be assured of a warm welcome from staff and parents alike.
