Warminster Singers
Our school choir (under the name Warminster Singers) provide the musical elements of all of our school church services as well as taking a leading role in all major school performances including Cabaret. In 2005 the choir toured Colorado and Wyoming in USA and in 2008 toured to . Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The choir is non-selective and all we ask is that pupils commit to rehearsals and remain enthusiastic about our performances!
Chamber Choir
This small vocal ensemble is selected from our most experienced singers. The group often provides 'semi chorus' sections of large choral works as well as providing close harmony secular music at many concerts. All pupils in Chamber Choir need to be fluent in music reading and also be confident in sight-reading.
Junior Singers
As the training choir for Warminster Singers, Junior Singers meet every Monday for a 30 minuite rehearsal. The group is directed by current L6 and U6 music pupils and music has a contemporary feel to it. The group performs at all major school concerts. Pupils from Year 7 and 8 can jion - with automatic progression to Warminster Singers at Year 9.
Jazz Band
The school jazz band was formed during the Colorado and Wyoming tour in 2005 and had gone from strength to strength. Performing regularly in school, the group has also participated in many other local events as well as being broadcast on our local radio station. The Jazz Band is an auditioned ensemble. The group usually has around 12 pupils and 5 staff playing music of a challenging standard.
Concert Band
We encourage all pupils who learn instruments to participate in our school Concert Band. With a typical membership of around 45 pupils and 8 staff, we perform music in a wide range of styles. Recent performance have included Star Wars, Superman and Aventura, Shrek and The Dam Busters.
Junior Concert Band
Pupils who have recently started learning a music instrument are invited to join Junior Concert Band. Repertoire teaches pupils about participating in an ensemble. The group is rehearsed by the Assistant Director of Music and is generally conducted by a Music Pupil taking GCSE Music in order for the to gain experience at this often tricky task!
Saxophone Ensemble
Our Saxophone Ensemble have wowed audiences at all recent concerts with fully choreographed numbers. The group accepts players of Grade 3 and above standard and parts are allocated specific pupils to allow for their ability. The group is led by Mrs Priestley.
