Making the right decision about a possible career or entrance into Higher Education is vitally important to us at Warminster School.
From Year 9 onwards we encourage students to investigate and research all information made available to them through the PSE programme and by visiting the well resourced Careers Library which is open all day and where pupils are encouraged to come in and discuss their plans.
In Year 11 pupils are encouraged to take the COA ''Preview'' Questionnaire and the ''Profile'' Aptitude Tests which is followed up with an individual report and a 20 minute interview with a visiting Careers Adviser from Cambridge Occupational Analysts (COA). This is supported by further interviews with Tutors or Mrs Norrington-Davies, the Careers Adviser.
In the Sixth Form the Careers Programme includes visits from employers, lobby groups, charities and Gap Year organisations as part of the Sixth Form Lecture Programme. A Careers Handbook is issued to all pupils and visits take place to Higher Education Fairs. We also hold a Higher Education Afternoon in the Spring Term. Pupils are also given advice on HE applications and seminars on how to write CVs and Personal Statements. Careers guidance is provided by the Careers Adviser, Head of Sixth Form and Tutors. Although we do not organise a Work Experience Programme we do encourage pupils to find their own relevant work experience as we consider it to be of value.
Parents and pupils are encouraged and have access to the Careers Library and the Careers Adviser who operates an ''open door'' policy at all times. We are also happy to offer post A Level assistance.
