Information Technology is an essential component of our lives. It impinges on all aspects of our lives and permeates every facet of modern society.
A sound understanding of the technology and a good practical capability with computers are regarded as essential within the business community and for success at university and in further education.
At Warminster IT is regarded as a core subject. All age groups from Year 7 to the Lower Sixth Form have time tabled IT periods each week and every student is provided with the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification in IT, at an appropriate level, before they leave Warminster.
In addition to certification in IT, there is a policy within the IT department that students gain practical, working skills and in addition to their IT lessons a course of 'touch typing' is provided for Year 7 students. The touch typing programme is also available to other students to follow in their own time.
