Key Stage 3

In Years 7-9, all pupils receive one double lesson of ICT a week. This programme of study is aimed at ensuring that all pupils gain a high level of ability and confidence in applications which will be of immediate use to them in preparing work for other subjects.

The topics covered include word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, spreadsheets, databases, programming, e-safety, the use of e-mail and internet search techniques.

Key Stage 4

Pupils can opt to study the OCR GCSE in ICT in Years 10 and 11. From 2010, a brand new syllabus will be used and it will incorporate some programming.

Those pupils who do not do the GCSE will start working towards their European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). This is an internationally recognised qualification in ICT skills and covers the following areas:

Sixth Form
