This is an academic course with a practical approach. Over the two years, the students study plays of different genres and epochs, and learn to appreciate their social and cultural contexts during practical workshops and written sessions. Various theatre practitioners are analysed and students also learn how to deconstruct live theatre.
In Year 12 they devise their own production which they then show to an audience. In Year 13, students perform an interpretation of a play extract. In both productions, students can choose acting or a technical skill, such as set design or costume. They have to develop these in groups, thus enhancing interaction and communication skills.
