These goals are not necessarily listed in priority order, and in any case it is clear that they are to a large extent interdependent.

  1. To offer all pupils a rich, rewarding, challenging and diverse experience which they will enjoy at the time and find valuable after leaving the department and school.
  1. To achieve and maintain excellence in all teaching undertaken in the department.
  1. To be professional and up-to-date in our use of information technology.
  1. To ensure that staff in the department are trained, nurtured and developed in such a way that they are able to do their jobs, enhance their skills and progress their careers.
  1. To instil in the pupils a life long love of learning and give them the necessary skills and desire to undertake independent learning.
  1. To consistently year-on-year raise the examination performance and profile of the department within the school.
  1. To grow the number of students opting for Business Studies and Economics in line with the national trend.
  1. To increase the range of resources available in the department to students and staff alike.
  1. To organise an enterprise day that involves students and the local community. Promotes local entrepreneurs and encourages students to develop their understanding of the business world.
  1. To offer a range of business related trips to students within the department.
