On Thursday 7th October Year 11 Art students visited the museum of East Asian Art in Bath. The museum holds ceramics from all the countries of East Asia, bamboo carvings and one of the most comprehensive Chinese jade collections in the UK. There are also fine examples of metalware and other decorative arts.
As part of their Multicultural unit students select two cultures to research. This visit enabled students to take part in a handling session in which they were able to touch and discuss artefacts from the museums collection with the curator and tour the museum. The students had an informative and inspiring morning in which they developed sketches, collected visual resources and leant about the culture of East Asia.
